Can my Schlage handle be extended?

Extendable Schlage handles will have a small pinhole on the handle. It is important to note where this small hole is located before placing an order. Take a close look at your door handle. Is there a pinhole? Where is it?

  • On the shaft of the handle. If there is a small hole on the shaft of the handle, then you may order from our website. It is a Schlage entry handle, which can be removed from the escutcheon plate by pressing a push pin into the hole.
  • On the escutcheon plate. If your handle has a small hole on the escutcheon plate (and not the shaft of the handle), your handle is a Schlage Dexter/Gatehouse. Please order an extension for Schlage Dexter.
  • There is no hole. If your handle doesn’t have a small hole in either of these places, you can purchase a 1/4-inch wood extension.
